The Argent Global Directory is an automated software inventory control system, maintaining an inventory for large-scale distributed networks. Both the control information and network scanning results are stored in an ODBC backend to provide excellent performance and complete reporting, such as Crystal Reports (which is built into the product).

The Argent Global Directory is fully Internet compatible. With the Argent Central Location implemented as the TCP/IP Server, and Site Servers implemented as TCP/IP clients, typically only the firewall of the Central Location should be configured for incoming traffic.

The Argent Global Directory has a built-in security control for incoming traffic from Site Servers. Spamming, hacking and other Internet attacks can effectively be prevented.
